Second Mini [Less Pointless] Update Post

My plan to establish more permanently what my question will be, and therefore what to include in my essay:

I will write about (either in summary or essay form)
  • Bierce's life
  • Circumstances surrounding his disappearance
  • His influence on literature
  • Things that influenced him (e.g. the American Civil War, his uncle)
  • The most prominent historians who have studied him.

    So now we are looking at a biography?
    *The historical influences upon Bierce
    *His place in contemporary U.S. society
    *His influence upon Americans

    The comment in the earlier post that he influenced the way Americans understood the Civil War through his short stories is particularly interesting Emma.
