Chickamauga Review - Representations of the ACW

"but as heedless of the grandeur of the struggle as the dead who had died to make the glory."
               


"Desolation everywhere! In all the wide glare not a living thing was visible."
                - Conveys the destruction the Civil War had on America and on the people.

"He recognized the blazing building as his own home!"
                - Few people are left out of the war.

"lay the body of a dead woman"
                - the boy's mother. Everyone lost someone.

"Then he stood motionless, with quivering lips, looking down upon the wreck."
                - Everybody is affected.

This story shows how everyone is affected, even the ignorant and innocent. In due course the ignorant become informed.
