Introduction: Ambrose Gwinnett Bierce was an American Civil War soldier on the Union side and the only veteran who survived who wrote extensively about his experiences afterward. Born on the 24th of June 1842 to Marcus Aurelius and Laura Bierce, he was an introvert until the War released him from his shell. This same war heavily influenced his short stories, with many dedicated expressly to his Civil War experiences and the rest with a hint of the decadence of war.
Aim: I aim to focus on Bierce's experience of the Civil War and its influence over his stories and therefore his historical influence.
