Third Update

The Unabridged Devil's Dictionary and Ambrose Bierce: Alone in Bad Company arrived this fine day. I have read the first four, rather large paragraphs of the latter. You may be wondering what information I have gleaned from what I have read. I have discovered that:

1. Roy Morris Jr. writes eloquently and
2. Bierce is indeed "Bitter Bierce"

According to Morris, Bierce hates, or more precisely, is "wearied" by "preachers, politicians, doctors, capatilists, socialists, jingoists, anarchists, immigrants, women, bohemians and dogs." He also found Oscar Wilde wearisome as well, and from the first paragraph he [Wilde] sounds exceedingly flamboyant. From extracts Morris has included of some of Bierce's columns, he makes Wilde sound foolish and intolerable.
